Fundamentals of Broadcasting
Course Description
Fundamentals of Broadcasting: Students demonstrate basic knowledge of Broadcasting history and development. Student will use foundation skills to complete assignments and create a capstone music video. Students will demonstrate proficiency in basic camera operation and editing in Premiere Pro. Students will also demonstrate their language arts and critical thinking skills by writing appropriate script and treatments.
Course Focus
Students will apply their knowledge of production rules to create audience appropriate content. Content is an important part of the broadcast world, without meaningful broadcast content the airwaves become 'a vast wasteland'. Students will work with the instructor to create meaningful content that appeals to the broadest possible audience. Students will create a “Capstone” Music Video as Final Project.

Student Contributions
Students will be professional in their appearance, behavior, and content selection. If the students are willing to schedule their time and apply their energies they will be able to leave Broadcast 1 with sound foundations in broadcast history and content production. To be successful students must be on time, on task, and willing to work by the school guidelines.
